Hair Loves Part 2: Special Products

The following are styling products that I'm currently obsessed with and they usually change.

1. Mango Oil and Cupuacu Butter Whip Coil Cream by Softsheen Carson I use this product because it defines my curls like crazy but isn't overly heavy. However, there is a lot of shrinkage once its dry, but its usually not so bad if you combine it with an oil or play with it while its air drying.

2. Cantu Shea Butter Grow Strong Strengthing Treatment Sometimes I use this in place of my conditioner, you know, when I can't find it. Its good and it makes my hair manageable.

3. Olive Oil I put this on my dry hair and leave it for about thirty minutes as a deep conditioner. It doesn't feel that great while its on, but once you get in the shower and rinse it out, your hair is amazingly soft. If you want extra nourished hair, add the half of an avocado.

4. John Frieda Root Awakening Nourishing Shampoo You might be wondering why I'm putting a shampoo last, but its because I only shampoo every two weeks. My hair is extremely dry so I love this shampoo because it nourishes your hair and it smells like eucalyptus. Its pretty cheap but if you want another dupe, the Suave Naturals Rosemary and Mint shampoo will give you more bang for your buck.

Hair Loves Part 1: Everyday Routine

So I've been currently trying to find the right products to work with the kinky coily mess on the top of my head. Don't get me wrong, I actually like my hair, but seeing as how its only about two inches in length, its kind of hard to get the right definition without being overly greasy or extremely dry.

However there are a few products that I am loving right now, in addition to a couple of basic staples everyone should have in their beauty closet.

Lets start with the basics every girl should have one of the following in their bathroom. It doesn't have to be these specific brands, but the basis of them is still needed.

1. Deep Conditioner. A deep conditioner is important for any type of hair because it strengthens and mosturizes your cuticles as well as replenishes your hair especially if you use heat products a lot. I personally love Creme of Nature's Jojoba Oil & Olive Oil Moisture Active Deep Conditioning Treatment. I put this in my hair once or twice a week and wash it out after twenty minutes. Sometimes I even leave it in overnight and its perfect because it leaves my hair feeling nourished, but not oily.

2. Leave-in Conditioner A leave-in conditioner protects and nourishes your hair all day and tames normally frizzy hair. Me and my sister-in-law are firm believers that any conditioner could be a leave-in no matter the instructions. I like to use Aussie Moist to co-wash with and sometimes leave in, or Cantu Shea Butter leave-in for everyday use. These two define my curls without leaving them dry or crunchy. I also like the Aphogree Keratin and Green Tea Restructerizer as a leave in because its a spray versus a heavier cream. I use this after I've just done a deep conditioner to make sure I don't over condition my hair.

3. Protective Oil I put a oil in my hair while its still wet to help further define my coils. Doo Gro Stimulating Growth Oil is my favorite because you can heat it up and give yourself a hot oil treatment, too.

These are the products I use everyday without fail. The make my hair manageable and keep my curls full of defnition and moisture.
